Set on the banks of the mighty Rufiji River, the lifeblood of the reserve, is Selous Riverside Safari Camp. This medium spec camp has risen in popularity over the last few years and it is easy to see why. Although this is a traditional safari camp, with plenty of canvas and a close to nature feel, the home comforts are delivered in spades here. The central building is home to a bar, dining area and extensive deck with swimming pool overlooking the river, perfect for cooling off after safari activities.
There are two types of rooms here, standard and deluxe. The standard tents are very large, simple but tastefully furnished and very comfortable. The deluxe tents are slightly larger and have a plunge pool. All of the 10 en-suite tents come with a flush toilette, charging points, shower with hot running water and a veranda. The potential downside to the camp is the location, while very pleasant, this is around 15 minutes from the park where the vast majority of activities take place. In our opinion the upsides far outweigh any negatives, the camp is a reasonably high spec and is very competitively priced, we highly recommend it.
