Beho Beho is without doubt a magical place, and arguably one of the most beautiful lodges in Tanzania. Most accommodation options in Nyere are located on the banks of rivers and lakes, and offer either spectacular river views, or easy access to river-based activities; Beho Beho is on top of a small hill in the cooler highlands, but don’t let this deter you – the views are jaw-dropping nonetheless. The main building houses the lounge, with full sized snooker table, which leads out to the swimming pool with fantastic views of the wilderness below. There are many nooks and crannies used for dining areas, but we don’t want to give everything away!
Each of the 9 en-suite rooms, or bandas as they are known locally, are built out of local stone and palm leaf thatch. They are enormous with the most beautiful views of the bush and furnished with colonial era furniture. Each has a sizeable bathroom with flush toilette, running water and double hand basin. The highlight of the rooms is the viewing terrace from where you will find a lounge area and telescope. Take a break from scheduled safari activities, relax and try and enjoy the wildlife from the comfort of your banda. Walking, boat and vehicle safaris are all highly recommended here but the icing on the cake is the treehouse, an experience not to be missed on a 3 night stay here. This is the most opulent accommodation in Nyere, but the quality of experience, level of safari guiding and standard of accommodation is in a class of its own and well worth the higher price tag.
