Perfectly simple and simply perfect, Lake Manze tented camp is in an enviable location on the banks of, fairly obviously, Lake Manze. Few experiences can be so rewarding as a sunset here – with ringside seats around the campfire, watch, drink in hand, as the sun goes down over the tall borassus palms and the lake turns a stunning red. In terms of game viewing, Lake Manze’s location is unbeatable – this is prime Nyere wildlife territory. Game drives, walking and boat safaris all deliver exciting action, but you’re just as likely to see wildlife close to camp also with animals regularly coming to the water’s edge to drink.
The camp itself is rustic and simple, but very comfortable. The main mess area is open-sided with a sandy floor and sits under a thatched roof. Meals are wholesome and often served under the stars in the evening.
The twelve en-suite tented rooms are practical, spacious and comfortable with private veranda. The en-suite bathrooms comprise a flush toilet and open air shower. Lighting is provided by paraffin lanterns as there is no electricity in the guest tents but there is a charging station for electrical devices at the bar. Warm, relaxed and unpretentious, Lake Manze is a no frills camp providing a rich safari experience at super value for money and is a firm favourite in the team.
