Located in the village of Karatu, a perfect stopping point between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro crater, Ngorongoro farmhouse is a lovely option. With 52 rooms, this is one of the larger options that we work with for the area, but it is excellent value for money with a lovely setting on a 500-acre coffee plantation. The main thatched building includes a sizeable lounge and restaurant with a large terrace area offering spectacular views of the Oldeani volcano. There is also a small spa, souvenir shop and a lovely swimming pool area.

The rooms, or chalets, certainly feel bright and airy with plenty of space and all have an en-suite bathroom and a balcony with lovely views of the surroundings. The food is good home cooked style and always receives high praise. Overall, we find that Ngorongoro Farmhouse find it’s way into many itineraries for the area, great value for money, comfortable, in a lovely setting and with consistently positive feedback it is easy to understand why.
