Location, location, location! Similar to the Serena hotel at the Ngorongoro crater, we wouldn’t normally find ourselves recommending a large, corporate style of hotel (unless you are travelling as a family) as we find the smaller hotels have more of a personal service and character but, there is no denying that the location of this lodge is superb. Facing to the west with the most magical sunsets the lodge is located on the highest point of the crater with fantastic views. Being a larger lodge, the facilities are extensive with Wifi in public areas, a gift shop and swimming pool to name a few.

The 97 en-suite Rooms here are simple but comfortable with two queen sized beds and a glass fronted veranda from which to enjoy the crater views. The rooms also has central heating, nights are chilly here, you will need this. While we may not love this option, chiefly because of the size and corporate feel, we do like it and would be very happy to include this within any itinerary. Great value for money, arguably the best location, very comfortable and everything that you need, it works well.
