The majority of beach accommodation for Zanzibar is located on the east coast of the island whereas Chuini is on the west coast. This is worthy of note because the position of this hotel presents the most beautiful sunsets that you would wish for, something that hotels on the east coast can’t achieve. This reasonably new offering is spread out over 1.5 hectares with the main building, housing an extensive lounge, bar, seaside dining area and swimming pool with lovely deck, is set around the ruins of a palace and beautiful gardens which gives an authentic feel to this chic offering.
There is a second swimming pool located next to the onsite spa which offers a range of treatments using the organic ‘Healing Earth’ range. With only twelve thatched bungalows including deluxe, superior, premium and a 2-bedroom villa, the hotel is never going to feel busy. Each unit displays crisp white walls, contemporary beach-style décor and natural wooden elements, a pleasant removal of the traditional dark wood and deep earth colours that make rooms feel a little dim. Worth a consideration is the beach, this is a short 50-metre walk from the main hotel, just around the corner and in a beautiful little bay. If you like the beach to be very close proximity to the bar and main facilities this may not work for you. On a recent visit by a member of the team here we like this option a lot and the value for money is exceptional.
