On a hillside with its own private beach, on the south-east coast of Zanzibar, recognised by many as having the best beaches on the island, we have Kichanga. If we needed describe Kichanga in just four words we would say ‘simple and very effective’. You will have everything that you need including lovely, friendly and helpful staff, library, massage centre, a bar, restaurant and swimming pool. There are also mountain bikes available as well as canoes, beach volleyball, beach bowling and a PADI dive centre.

The 14 rooms here are comfortable and simple, verging on the side of being described as functional, but with so much to do outside of your room this is never reported as being a problem. This is the best value for money option that we work with for Zanzibar and only ever receive positive feedback. There is no doubt that this isn’t for everyone but for those that don’t mind simple accommodation in a super spot this is a great choice.
