A stay here may well find you as far from civilisation as you have ever or, will ever be. Manta does not offer five-star luxury accommodation but does deliver a superb and remote beach experience that many hotels around the world aspire to. This is somewhere that you can turn the phone off, turn the tablet off, turn everything off and enjoy, rest and relax. Located around one hour from the airport the hotel is situated on one of the best beaches we have ever had the pleasure of setting foot on, with gin clear waters and tropical forest behind this might just be a perfect paradise!
The main lodge has a large lounge and bar that leads out to a lovely terrace area, the perfect spot to enjoy the cocktail of the day while the sun gradually descends. A few steps from the main building leads you to the small spa with sea views and there is also a lovely swimming pool for cooling off in the heat of the day. The 18 en-suite rooms are spread out along the coastline with three different categories, standard, superior garden and seafront villas. We tend not to suggest the standard rooms as they are quite small and very basic, the other rooms are simple, comfortable and functional, nothing to get too excited about but perfectly pleasant and come with air-conditioning.
There is also an underwater room in Manta, anchored to the ocean floor, this impressive room is so unique and would give the lucky few that can stretch to the nightly cost a very memorable experience. While there are not as many activities available as there would be Zanzibar there is still a good variety of interesting things to do and the diving is some of the best in the Indian Ocean. However, if you want an activity rich beach break this might not work for you. We love Manta, it reminds us of the stunning beaches and remote feel of Mozambique, just superb.
