With an enviable position, slap bang in the centre of the Serengeti, this is a great year-round option. Mbuzi Mawe works well for the passing migration at various times of year but, something that is often forgotten, the Serengeti offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa year-round and especially in the central area. The main lodge is set on top of a rocky outcrop, or kopje as they are known locally, with incredible views of the plains below. There is a lounge, bar and restaurant in the main building with winding stone paths which lead to the rooms.

On a stone platform, each of the 16 en-suite tented rooms are large in size and offer two queen sized beds along with a sizeable bathroom with 24-hour hot water. Each has a private terrace to sit and enjoy your surroundings and the beautiful views. This is a great value for money option for the Serengeti, a step up from the basic tented options, and we love it for year round wildlife viewing.
